
Sony has launched for four new Blu-ray players/recorders with hard-drive in Japan. The new line-up comprises the BDZ-X90, BDZ-T70, BDZ-T50 and BDZ-L70.
Sony has been planning to start on sale in early November, in time for the Christmas sales period and Sony will produce 40,000 units a month to fulfill the need of these multimedia entertainment devices.
The Sony BDZ-X90, BDZ-T70, BDZ-T50 and BDZ-L70 are able to boast 24p true cinema, AVCHD support, “hi-vision” encoded recording, HD audio and BRAVIA link.
The largest capacity model is the Sony BDZ-X90 that has a 500GB hard drive, Sony BDZ-X90 is also the top line product of BDZ series products, the Sony BDZ-T50 boasts 250GB HDD and one digital tuner. The BDZ-T70 has a 320GB hard drive and two digital tuners while the 320GB Sony BDZ-L70 is designed for hook up with your AVCHD camcorder. The prices of those devices are about the new range of 140,000 yen (the equivalent of about £600) to 200,000 yen (about £860).
The moment from Sony to offer those new Blu-ray recorders outside of Japan is not yet known. Sony introduced the first Blu-ray recorder BDZ-V9 and BDZ-V7 in 2006 in Japan. The only Sony Blu-ray recorder available is the Sony DVDirect MC5 that is aimed at video camera users.
Sony’s BDZ-V9 and BDZ-V7 Blu-ray disc recorders were only available in Japan. The release date was Dec. 8, 2006.
Sony BDZ-V9 comes with a 500GB hard drive for its’ initial price tag of 300,000 Yen (£1,349). The Sony BDZ-V7 was launched on Dec. 19, 2006. Sony BDZ-V7 was featured with a 250GB drive for its’ initial price tag of 250,000 Yen (£1,125). Both models, Sony’s BDZ-V9 and BDZ-V7 Blu-ray disc recorders, able to record two TV programs at once via their two digital and one analogue tuners, which you can back up to Blu-ray disc.
