When we recently looked at the Alienware M17x Extreme Gaming Laptop and the Alienware M18x Gaming Laptop, we were so impressed with its graphics performance. Now, gaming peripherals maker Razer has announced an even sleeker 17.3″ gaming laptop with an innovative user interface, which is hopes will blow away the competition.

The Razer Blade, which is touted as the world’s first “true” gaming laptop, is a tin gaming laptop with minimalistic designed chassis that is made of black aluminum and coming in at only 0.88 inches thick. Despite the slim profile, however, the Razer Blade gaming laptop manages to pack impressive specs: 2.8GHz Core i7-2640M dual-core CPU with integrated graphics, the NVidia GeForce GT 555M 2GB of GDDR5 dedicated VRAM, NVidia Optimus switchable GPU technology, 8GB 1333MHz DDR3 RAM, 320GB 7200rpm SATA HDD, 17.3-inch LED 1920 x 1080 full HD panel, Built-in HD webcam, Wireless Network 802.11 b/g/n compatible, three USB ports (one 3.0), HDMI-out, 60Wh integrated battery, and a form factor: 16.81” (width) x 10.9” (depth) x 0.88” (height); 6.97lbs (weight) including its battery.

The Razer Blade gaming laptop is not only boasts some tasty specs, but also features a multi-touch display in the palm rest, which turns into a shortcut screen when combined with an external mouse for gaming. Here, the multi-touch display will act like a touchpad during normal use and will then turn into a shortcut screen during gaming. Then shortcut keys are displayed above the main screen, which will be fully customizable according to Razer, but for major titles like Battlefield 3, they will be automatically configured.

On the other hand, the secondary display will be powered by the SwitchBlade UI, which will also control the 10 LCD shortcut buttons above it.

“To truly co-develop a gaming laptop of this caliber with a company like Razer is quite a remarkable feat,” said Intel’s beret-wearing Mooly Eden. “Bringing together our engineering forces and utilizing our fast Intel Core i7 CPU, the Razer Blade delivers top-class gaming performance in a very portable form factor.”

The Razer Blade gaming laptop will go on sale in the North America in Q4 2011, with a $2,800 price tag. As to availability in the other regions, the guys from Razer advised me to wait until the launch in the US has been evaluated.
