Sony Ericsson just announced their flagship mobile phone at the company’s event in London, the Aino. The announcement is the Sony Ericsson’s first step towards delivering upon the strategy, which the company shared at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona in February 2009 to be The Communication Entertainment brand.
Sony Ericsson Aino is the new Sony Ericsson multimedia mobile phone from Entertainment Unlimited series. The first time when DoubleDT.Com sees Aino, it looks more like a stick phone with large display and without keys. However, first impressions of this handset are wrong. Sony Ericsson Aino is not a stick smartphone; it is a mobile phone that has many interesting features like touchscreen. It is the first time when DoubleDT.Com will see a touchscreen on a mobile phone from Sony Ericsson.

Sony Ericsson is not about to throw in the towel where mobile phones are concerned, and they have underlined their intent of staying in the game with the Aino, which comes with quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE and tri-band UMTS/HSDPA support to enable worldwide roaming.
Sony Ericsson Aino is a fresh looking gadget that is designed to act as a streaming media player connected to a PlayStation 3 (PS3) console. Aino owners can pull media from their consoles using “Remote Play” (originally designed for use with the PSP), so they can remotely control their PS3 and watch videos from it over WiFi or anywhere through the Internet. In some countries, the PlayTV service can also be used to receive TV via a PlayStation 3. With a PlayTV tuner, Aino owners will be able to watch, pause and record live TV from free-to-air digital TV channels. Moreover, PC owners can automatically synchronize media from a PC over WiFi using “Media Go”, although it does look like PlayStation 3 owners have more options.
Sony Ericsson Aino stores a number pad and navigation keys right under its 3-inches 240 x 432 pixels TFT touchscreen that supports up to 16,777,216 colors. As a powerful photography tool, Sony Ericsson Aino comes with an 8MP autofocus camera with a LED flash. Unfortunately, Sony Ericsson Aino has only 55MB of internal memory, but it supports SanDisk microSD cards (8GB SanDisk microSD card will be included to the box of the mobile phone). The other highlight features include GPS, USB, Bluetooth and WiFi as well as FM radio with RDS.

When the mobile phone is closed, it has a nice form factor: 104 x 50 x 15.5 mm. the opened mobile phone looks a bit wide, but it is not a problem, because Sony Ericsson Aino has a touchscreen and user will not open the mobile phone very often. Sony Ericsson Aino has weight 134 gram and that is normal for a slider mobile phone. Last but not least, Sony Ericsson Aino will be released to the market not earlier than October 2009.
