For those of you who do not care about a certain smartphone from a certain fruit-flavored company, you might be interested to know that the T-Mobile Dash 3G, which is manufactured by HTC, has officially announced on Wednesday and as expected is headed for a July release.
The T-Mobile Dash 3G smartphone is going to be released with a new handy trackball for navigation, QWERTY keyboard, slim profile and lightweight. It is a first for T-Mobile – their first Windows Mobile-powered 3G-capable smartphone. T-Mobile’s 3G network is still expanding and it is expected to cover approximately 200 million people in the US by the end of the year.
The T-Mobile Dash 3G supports personal and corporate e-mail and even synchronizes with Microsoft Outlook. One additional feature of this smartphone that makes web browsing easier is its supports of Wi-Fi. You can go online using the nearest hotspot with the integrated Wi-Fi device.

The T-Mobile Dash 3G is T-Mobile’s version of the HTC Snap (also known as Maple or S522). Actually, the smartphones are not exactly the same however – keys of the T-Mobile Dash 3G’s keyboard have been rearranged, some were replaced and on of the signature features of the HTC Snap – the “inner circle” button – is missing.
The T-Mobile Dash 3G offers 3G connectivity, GPS, Wi-Fi, plus Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP, a fixed 2MP camera and a microSDHC expansion card slot for plenty of storage potential up to 16GB. In addition, the 2.4-inch display has QVGA (320 x 240 pixel) resolution, which can display up to 65K colors.
The T-Mobile Dash 3G is powered with a 528MHz processor, 198MB of RAM, and Microsoft Windows Mobile 6.1 operating system. At this point, there is no information whether it will be available to be upgraded to WinMo 6.5 or not. By the way, Office Mobile and seamless synchronization with Outlook is as always one of WinMo’s competitive advantages. T-Mobile hope this and the GPS will attract potential customers by assisting them “stay connected, organized and traveling in the right direction”.

The T-Mobile Dash 3G will be available in black with red accents starting July at T-Mobile retail stores, select authorized dealers, and online store.
