HP iPAQ K3 Obsidian

AT&T is going to launch a new smartphone from Hewlett-Packard called iPAQ K3 Obsidian on November 30. The HP iPAQ K3 Obsidian works on tri-band HSDPA 3.5G as well as quad-band EDGE. If you have dreamed to have a BlackBerry with a touchscreen and a full QWERTY keyboard, then you might put this new gadget on your wishlist.

The HP iPAQ K3 Obsidian is powered by a 528MHz ARM Qualcomm MSM7200A processor, a 256MB RAM and a 512MB ROM. Some other features include Microsoft Windows Mobile 6.5 OS, a 2.46-inch screen display based on AMOLED technology, a 3.2MP camera, a full QWERTY keyboard, a high-speed micro-USB for data and charging, a microSD expansion card slot, a 3.5mm headset jack, built-in GPS (SUPL A-GPS, XTRA, Stand alone) as well as Bluetooth 2.0 and Wi-Fi connectivity.

Another big selling point is the iPAQ K3’s “large ‘THUMB’ sized keys for heavy email usage”. DoubleDT.Com is guessing that means the buttons on the QWERTY keyboard are terrific for giant fingers. The Press Release believes that the HP iPAQ K3 Obsidian as a “powerful notebook substitute” when a user in on the road. Unfortunately, pricing info is still unknown at the moment.

There is also a BlackBerry style scroll wheel on the side as well, to enable all those business-type user who stare disapprovingly at us non-suit wearers to look through their emails easier. Obviously, it is not a super exciting and rocking smartphone, but business dudes should love it in that queit reserved way that they love things.
