Sony PlayStation 3 (PS3) gaming consoles have risen fast in the United States. Since Sony has cut the price of 80 GB model of PS3 and launched a 40 GB model, the company has made PS3 more competitive against Nintendo’s Wii and Microsoft’s Xbox 360. The company has to reconsider the price of PS3 for its market in the United States, because the company had already cut the price of PS3 for the market in the Japan and Europe.
According to the Sony, the company had been selling between 30,000 and 40,000 consoles per week before the Oct. 29 price cut. Moreover, by implementing the strategy of cutting the price of PS3, the company has sold more than 100,000 consoles of all types just in the two weeks ending Nov. 11.
According to Sony’s executives, the rising sales also boost the Blu-ray high definition DVD format. A Blu-ray drive comes with the PS3.
