On January 2007, Takara Tomy had claimed that they have made the world smallest two-legged walking robot. The robot is known as Omnibot2007 i-SOBOT humanoid. The robot is measuring 6.6” tall and weighing 12.3 ounces. What surprising me is this robot can plays drums, dance along with music and able to press-ups and pick itself up when it falls. Takara Tomy sold this stuff at a price US$ 260 and only available in Japan at that time.

Takara Tomy’s i-SOBOT is an interesting robot; it includes an LCD-equipped remote for moving itself in natural motion moves, voice control for doing some dictating actions. It seems like Takara Tomy have put human senses on this thing, i-SOBOT can able to make responds such as doing applause, punching and kicking with sound effects. Simultaneously, Takara Tomy have developed it into Omnibot2007 i-SOBOT CAMVersion, which is i-SOBOT that armed with camera. Takara Tomy are using Sanyo’s Eneloop rechargeable batteries on AA-size batteries. The company will also include a charger to make sure i-SOBOT juice for an hour.

Well, I just got a good news for all of you, that i-SOBOT is available at United States right now in October. You might think that I am kidding; no, this is not a joke. i-SOBOT is coming to America at the price at US$ 299. Officially, you can order this stuff at Amazon.com. i-SOBOT will also available for European market in the early of 2008.

Takara Co., Ltd. was a Japanese-toy company founded in 1955. The company merged with other prominent Japanese-toy company, Tomy Co., Ltd., on May 13, 2005. The merger becomes effective at March 1, 2006. In English, the legal name of the company is TOMY Co. Ltd. while in Japanese the legal name of the company is K.K. Takara-Tomy.
