Vertu, a British-based manufacturer and retailer of luxury handsets, announces the release of three new editions to the Vertu stable of handcrafted, Ferrari branded, handsets.
The three new editions of the Vertu’s handsets are reflecting the elegance, exclusivity and performance of the best super-cars. This is not very surprising; the concept of the company is to make handsets in the same vein as luxury watch manufacturers like Patek Philippe, IWC and Rolex.
The Vertu Ascent Ti Ferrari Nero will comprise of 2009 limited edition mobile phones in sleek black leather. While the Vertu Ascent Ti Ferrari Rosso and Giallo will be launched in vibrant yellow and red respectively. Each edition will be available worldwide from 1 November 2008.
It seems that a close working partnership between Vertu and Ferrari has enabled the design and material cues from the cars to be implemented seamlessly into the Vertu Ascent Ti. According to Frank Nuovo, chief of design, the original design for the Ascent Ti was heavily influenced by the dynamic power of luxury sports cars and working closely with Ferrari has enabled his team to progress the vision. The new Vertu Ascent Ti Ferrari editions are the definitive automotive-inspired mobile phones - bold, balanced and with the unmistakable character of the Prancing Horse.
The Vertu ‘V’ logo is complemented by the famous Ferrari Cavallino, that shows up on the front and back of the handset. As with all Ferrari mobile phones by Vertu, the Ascent Ti Ferrari editions use the same stitching and leather as the latest Ferrari car interiors.
The battery of the Vertu Ascent Ti Ferrari Nero cover mirrors the distinctive bonnet detailing and on the mobile phones, the sides of the handsets are sculpted to reflect the louvers, found on various Ferrari cars. The mobile phone is made using the finest materials, including a chassis built from high-grade titanium and a sapphire crystal screen. In addition, ‘Ti’ is the chemical symbol for Titanium, the non-corrosive element with the highest strength-to-weight ratio of any metal and an ability to withstand extreme temperatures.
The sounds on a Vertu handset are instantly recognizable by their unique composition and quality of sound. The new collection features recordings of original Ferrari engine sounds are taken from the F430 and the 612 Scaglietti. Moreover, the renowned musician and songwriter, Dave Stewart has also mixed these unique engine sounds into his musical selection of ring-tones composed exclusively for the Vertu Ascent Ti Ferrari collection.
