HTC Corporation has just announced its latest QWERTY keypad smartphone, which is the HTC Snap or better known as the HTC S522. This slim Windows Mobile powered phone is the successor for the HTC Excalibur, and it is optimized for email and messaging.
According to a recent study conducted by Harris Interactive and commissioned by HTC found that 44% of U.S. adults are often overwhelmed by the amount of email they receive, and 55% of U.S. adults prioritize five or fewer people with whom they communicate via email. The HTC Snap will run Microsoft Windows Mobile 6.1 Standard on a 528MHz processor and comes with integrated Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth 2.0, 256MB ROM/ 192MB RAM, a microSD/SDHC expansion slot, and 2MP camera/camcorder. Of course, it will come bundled with the standard suite of entertainment and productivity applications that are a part of this platform.
The HTC Snap will include high-speed 3G HSPA connectivity for Europe and Asia. Moreover, HTC has planned to release an alternate, unlocked version with North American HSDPA support (850/1900 MHz).
The HTC Snap is expected to be available in select channels during the second quarter of 2009 and will be rolled out worldwide during the second half of the year.
