Samsung has officially announced the upcoming launch of Samsung B5702, an all new dual-standby mobile phone that can run two SIM cards in one cell phone at the same time.
Perhaps, DoubleDT.com has to remind you that Samsung B5702 saw daylight for the first time at the MWC 2009 in Barcelona, Spain. It was briefly introduced and somehow it did not attract much attention amidst the crowd of high-end mobile phones.
Coming with enhanced dual SIM interface and new visual indicators, Samsung B5702 is also the first dual-standby cell phone that has quad-band GSM/GPRS support, which allows users to use data traffic on either one of the SIM cards, depending on the users’ preference. Moreover, Samsung B5702 also features two LED lights. The lights indicate the SIM card in use while there is an incoming call.
Samsung B5702’s interface can be customized as per the SIM card in use, using themes, melodies and screen savers to identify the SIM in use. In addition, it has a dedicated hot key on the side of the cell phone, which allows switching between the SIM cards instantaneously without rebooting the device.
Samsung B5702 comes with a built-in memory of 50 MB and supports external memory of up to 8 GB (via microSD card slot). Its battery supports talk time of up to 11.4 hours and standby time of up to 220.9 hours. The handset packed in a sleek slider handset with a thickness of just 17.5 mm. Moreover, the cell phone shows off a metal finish and premium looks and a 2.4-inch TFT LCD display screen.
Apart from all these features, Samsung B5702 also boasts various multimedia functions including MP3 and MPEG4 players, a 3MP camera with auto focus, FM radio with RDS, full Web-browsing, e-mail access, Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP, USB 2.0 high speed connectivity and a document viewer complete the rest of the specifications.
By using two SIM cards in one handset, Samsung B5702 is an alternative for users who want to combine two calling plans from different carriers for the benefit of choosing the most optimal call pricing or at least for combining their business and personal calls on a single handset. No wonder then, one of the top cell phone makers are reaffirming their commitment to address this kind of demand.
Samsung B5702 will be available in several markets, starting with Russia in May 2009 at the price of about 420 USD (roughly 310 EUR).
